Leaders to give thanks at prayer breakfast

Darryl Strawberry

Civic, community and business leaders will come together and pray this week at the 18th Annual Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast.

Flower Mound Mayor Tom Hayden, Highland Village Mayor Charlotte Wilcox and Lewisville Mayor Rudy Durham are participating in the event on Wednesday, May 3, at 6:45 a.m. at Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville.

Patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast held in Washington, DC, the event is designed as a time for rededication of individuals and communities to God, according to organizers. Special emphasis is placed on prayer for law enforcement, elected officials, schools, pastors, churches, and military.

This year’s breakfast will feature Darryl Strawberry, Major League Baseball legend and ordained Christian minister and author, as the keynote speaker and music by Legacy Voices.

Tickets are $250 for a table of eight or $30 per individual. Click here for more information.

In past years, the Mayors’ Prayer Breakfast has attracted 400 to 500 people. The host committee expects another sellout crowd this year.
