Wet start to work week

Denton County could see between 2 to 4 inches of rain early this week as a slow-moving storm system creeps in.

Showers and thunderstorms will be on the increase during the late morning and afternoon hours on Monday as a front moves into the area. Some storms could become severe with large hail and damaging winds.

Abundant Gulf moisture will be in place, so storms will be capable of producing locally heavy rain and flooding in some areas.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue Monday night as the front remains nearly stationary and an upper level disturbance moves overhead.

A few severe storms will remain possible during the evening, but the main concern will be brief heavy rain and possible flooding overnight Monday night.

Showers and storms may persist Tuesday morning but should taper off in the afternoon as the upper level disturbance moves east.
