Making a Difference

In 2007, a group of southern Denton County business professionals combined their energy and efforts to form Your Home Team Cares to make a difference in the community.

It’s a fully-accredited nonprofit organization with a board and a goal to provide immediate assistance to members of the community.

The organization offers onetime assistance designed to help those who have had bumps in the road to get back on track. Examples of the assistance provided are rent, utilities, groceries, car payments and insurance.

Working at the local level allows the group to respond quickly. School counselors, among others, have become a good source of referrals.

Your Home Team Cares has no paid staff and minimal administrative costs; therefore, it’s able to direct donations to the community where they are needed the most.

The application process is open to anyone in need. Each application is reviewed and voted on by the board members before assistance is provided. Last year, the group assisted 17 applicants with more than $10,000.

The group’s funds come from private donations and fundraisers. The current project is the “$10 for 10” promotion to celebrate the group’s 10 years of service. The hope is that 1,000 people will donate $10 each to reach a $10,000 goal.

In addition, there is an “In Memoriam Page” on its website providing a place to honor someone and make the community a better place at the same time.

Visit the website at: www.yhtc.org; and like them on Facebook at: Your Home Team Cares. To donate, go to: www.paypal.me/YourHomeTeamCares.
