Flower Mound Police investigators are reviewing surveillance tapes as part of their investigation of a sexual assault reported on Friday evening, May 27, by a Flower Mound woman.
The victim posted the news of her sexual assault on Facebook as a warning to others to be aware of their surroundings, even if they’re in a familiar environment.
She has been a frequent customer of the Z Grill & Tap, 2321 Cross Timbers Rd., but on Friday her routine night out changed; she was possibly drugged and then raped and bitten by a stranger. The staff of Z Grill & Tap discovered her, unclothed, behind the sports bar.
She posted: “I want to share this with you as a reminder that no matter how comfortable we may be with the places that we frequent, we must always be aware of our surroundings. This past Friday I went to Z Bar (I go to this place often enough that some of the staff know who I am). We have reason to believe that I was drugged. Once I left the bar I was raped and assaulted and then dumped at the back of Z Bar on a sidewalk without my clothes and a shirt to put around my waist. I was found by the Z Bar staff. This is an extremely traumatic thing to go through and while yes I did choose to go to a bar by myself, something I have done many times, this time resulted in a worst nightmare. Please be aware of everything you do, even if it is something that you do often! Unfortunately this is a tough lesson to learn and I don’t want anyone else to go through this. The man who do this to me is still out there. I want to make very clear that the management and employees of Z Bar have been very helpful with this case and with assisting the detectives. They are the reason that I know that these men will be caught. I do not feel any negativity towards that place in any way as they have been very helpful and can not control what takes place when people leave there. I do not wish for my situation to place any sort of negative light on that place.”
An employee of Z Grill & Tap posted on Facebook: “On behalf of Z Grill and Tap we are deeply saddened by this horrible incident. We are collaborating with Flower Mound Police Department and making every effort to ensure that justice is served. Z Grill and Tap has recently gone under new ownership and surveillance. We strive to provide a safe environment and responsible service to each and every guest. This is the first incident of this sorts that has ever been reported and brought to our attention. We are fully committed to it being the last.”
