Newspaper to host candidate forums

lisd_candidate_forum13Early voting begins April 25 for the May 7 municipal and school board elections across southern Denton County and The Cross Timbers Gazette will host two candidate forums this week to help voters make informed choices.

A Highland Village City Council candidate forum will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, at Highland Village City Hall, 1000 Highland Village Road.

There are two contested races in Highland Village; City Council Place 1 (Mayor), and Place 4.

Flower Mound candidates will participate in a forum on Thursday, April 14, at 7 p.m. at Flower Mound Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Road. Lewisville ISD candidates are also invited and will have 3 minutes each to address the public at the beginning of the forum.

The event will be televised live and rebroadcast on FMTV, the town’s government access cable channel.

There are a full slate of candidates in Flower Mound as the positions of Mayor, Place 2 and Place 4 Town Council seats, and a Special Election for the Place 1 unexpired term, are up for grabs.

Longtime Flower Mound resident and newspaper columnist Bob Weir will moderate both forums.

The public is invited to submit questions for the candidates in advance to [email protected]. Questions should be worded in a general way so all candidates can respond to them.

Those attending the event will also have the opportunity to submit questions for the candidates.
