Everyone needs a healthy dose of authentic Texas BBQ now and again, and that includes us! And while we have lots of delicious BBQ joints in our area, we knew that it was definitely time we finally visited a Foodie Fan Favorite – Chasin’ Tail BBQ in Lake Dallas.
We’ve been hearing great things about Chasin’ Tail for a while now, and were thrilled to finally get the chance to visit them and to talk to co-owners, Brooke Asbell and Mike Cooper (and to visit their famous pink pig, of course).
Chasin’ Tail originally started out as a competition team, growing out of a passion for quality BBQ. Eventually, that vision expanded to opening a brick-and-mortar store where they could serve their passion for BBQ to residents of North Texas.
And now Chasin’ Tail’s vision is expanding even more as they grow their business into a second location in Old Town Lewisville in the old Square One Cafe spot off of Main Street. They anticipate it should open sometime around mid-April and will feature their same, delicious menu with the addition of beer and wine for customers to enjoy alongside their “Q.”
How’d you like to know what you can expect when you visit Chasin’ Tail? Well, I can tell you that you can expect good, honest portions of their delicious barbecued meats and sides – there is so scrimping here! And lucky for you, there were a lot of us at our lunch this week, so we were able to sample a lot of their menu items!
I ordered the rib plate with fried okra and their BBQ baked beans. You know, normally you might go to a BBQ restaurant and get a couple of ribs – but at Chasin’ Tail, they load your plate with SIX hearty ribs. And boy were they ever delicious. And I need to rave about their okra for a minute too… it was so crispy and fresh tasting! Almost like a crunchy tater tot made with okra.
In addition to my ribs, we also tried some of their brisket (both chopped and sliced) and their pulled pork. Everything had such a rich and delicious flavor, and all the meats were tender beyond belief!
Oh, and if you’re a sides-lover like me, you’ll definitely want to try out their mac ‘n cheese and their garlic cheddar potatoes.
And , of course, what would our meal be without ending it with something on the sweet side? So, we ordered a couple of banana puddings and had no problem devouring all of it! The combination of the creamy pudding and the crispy vanilla wafers felt just like being at Grandma’s house.
Keep in mind that Chasin’ Tail also caters, so you can get all of this delicious food for business meetings, weddings, etc. Mike and Brooke told us they actually cater a weekly meal at the Flower Mound Senior Center, which is something all the senior residents look forward to! I mean, who doesn’t love a designated BBQ day?
All in all, we had an incredible lunch with the guys of Chasin’ Tail and are so excited for them as they continue to grow their business and open their second location. I’m seeing a lot more barbecue in our future….
*Chasin’ Tail BBQ is located at 601 S. Lake Dallas Dr, Lake Dallas, TX 75065.
