Flower Mound celebrates Arbor Day

Mark and Penny Glover’s historic Post Oak tree was recognized by Flower Mound on Arbor Day.

Flower Mound Mayor Tom Hayden made a proclamation at Monday night’s town council meeting declaring Friday, November 6, as Arbor Day.

Hayden also recognized the winners of this year’s Environmental Services division Tree Recognition Program:

•Largest Tree, Live Oak: Hubert and Carolyn Tanner
•Largest & Unique Tree, Bois d’Arc: Elue and Janet Baca
•Unique Canopy Tree, Post Oak: Parkside at Woodlake Estates
•Unique Multi-Trunk Tree, Post Oak: Edmund and Barbara Hemmerick
•Largest & Unique Tree, Water Oak: Mark and Penny Glover
•Historic Tree, Post Oak: Mark and Penny Glover

The Flower Mound Environmental Services Division will give away 60 tree seedlings to commemorate Arbor Day on Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Flower Mound Public Library.
