Greetings from Bartonville.

The last month has been very busy. After considerable discussion, the town council passed the fiscal year 2015/16 town budget which went into effect on October 1.

The council also voted unanimously to maintain the current property tax rate of $0.193 per $100 valuation. Bartonville’s property tax rate remains one of the lowest in Denton County.

Some of the highlights of the adopted budget are:

– West Jeter Road Reconstruction Project (over $500K) through a partnership with Denton County;

– Replacement of town boundary signs; and

-Design and engineering plans for town hall remodel and exterior updates.

Did you know that we now have a Lions Club supporting Bartonville, Lantana, Copper Canyon, Double Oak and the surrounding area? The Lions of Greater FM 407 was formed to provide community service in the local area.

Help the Lions make a bigger impact by becoming a part of the greater FM 407 Lions Club. The club meets on the second  and fourth Tuesdays of the month 6:30 p.m. at Bartonville Town Hall. To get involved please visit their website: www.fm407lionsclub.org

Don’t miss out on our upcoming National Night Out which will be held Tuesday, October 6, at Bartonville Town Center from 6-8 p.m. and will include a kid’s activity zone, music, local business showcase as well as food and beverages provided by Kroger.

National Night Out is held each year to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood and police partnerships and let criminals know that neighborhoods are fighting back against crime. This will provide a chance for the town to meet and greet each other; bring your family and have some fun!
