Without a doubt, one of my favorite Foodie Friday spots we’ve discovered over the last couple years has got to be Peter’s Pizzeria located off of FM 407 in Highland Village. Because when it comes to delicious and authentic Italian food, owners Peter and Liz Pigano know what they’re doing and they’ve been doing it for over 35 years!
Pete and Liz opened the pizzeria here in Highland Village about two years ago – after sharing their homemade family recipes for several years in their hometown of Ridgewood, New Jersey and then just a little ways south of us in Colleyville.
You know that saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” Well, that’s absolutely how Pete and Liz see it. They’ve been using the same recipes and ingredients on their menu for the last 35 years because it’s all simply incredible and extremely authentic.
When you go to Peter’s Pizzeria, you may be interested in trying out Jay’s Healthy Option which is their antipasti salad with sliced Parmesan, ham and pepperoni with a great mixture of fresh vegetables. And it comes served with their delicious house dressing – something I can’t seem to get enough of!
They’ve got some great pasta (and pasta-liked) dishes as well, including their Eggplant Rollatini and their fabulous lasagna. It just tastes like what you think Italian food should taste like!
But my all-time favorite menu item is Peter’s Special Pizza which comes fully loaded with peppers, onions, mushrooms, black olives, sausage and pepperoni. All of the ingredients Peter uses are so fresh and really just taste delicious when they’re all thrown together like this. And the crust on each of the pies is fabuloso – it’s got just the right crisp on the outside and then is nice and fluffy on the interior.
Also, here’s a little Foodie Friday inside scoop: I love Peter’s homemade sauce… it’s so rich and fresh tasting at the same time. Want to know his secret? He puts a little bit of Parmesan cheese into it. How’s that for tasty?
Another great thing about Peter’s is that you can come in and order pizza by the slice or you can order an entire pie to enjoy with friends and family. Bring your own bottle of wine in and enjoy the comfortable atmosphere – you’ll immediately feel a part of Pete and Liz’s big Italian family!
You’re really missing out if you haven’t checked this place out already – I guarantee it’ll become one of your new favorite pizza and Italian spots! So, go pay Pete and Liz a visit this weekend! You’ll see Pete working away in the kitchen getting your food ready!
*Peter’s Pizzeria is located at 2250 Justin Rd, Highland Village TX 75077.
