Even if you don’t run, the 6th Annual Run Lantana 5K race has something for everybody in your family.
New family friendly attractions are being added to the September 19th event at Blanton Elementary School.
“There will be pony rides, a petting zoo and vendor booths from 8 to 10 a.m.,” said Mark Norton, Lantana Community Association manager.
Each year, the Lantana Community Association puts on the 5k to raise money for local charities. Norton said that the event has raised around $36,000 in the past five years
“We are hoping to raise over $11,000 for our non-profit beneficiary this year,” said Norton.
SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center in Corinth was chosen to receive funds raised from the race this year. SpiritHorse offers equine therapy at no cost to children and adults who have been diagnosed with disabilities.
Previous beneficiaries include the Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home of Denton, Hydrocephalus Foundation, Pedi Place and the Children’s Advocacy Center.
