FM 2499 closed at Denton Creek

11232173_10153405227259596_5025002692444604102_oFM 2499 is now closed in both directions from Lakeside Parkway to Grapevine Mills Boulevard as a result of flooding at Denton Creek from Lake Grapevine.

Southbound FM 2499 was closed at Lakeside Parkway around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The northbound lanes were shut down at Grapevine Mills Boulevard around 5 a.m. Friday.

There is no timeline for the road to be reopened.

There are several alternate routes for southbound FM 2499 traffic, with FM 3040 being the detour with the largest capacity. In addition, Forest Vista Drive and FM 1171 are both good alternate routes for motorists traveling to and through Lewisville. Spinks Road and Lakeside Parkway will serve as alternate routes to State Highway 121.

Early Thursday morning, Flower Mound Mayor Tom Hayden has issued a declaration Declaration of Disaster Proclamation and Mandatory Evacuation Order. Although no mandatory evacuations are anticipated, the order allows emergency responders to evacuate residents as public safety and welfare dictate.
