Hollie and Lee Woodham, a couple who met on a Southwest Airlines flight not once but twice, are now operating their own business together. With more than 30 years combined business experience, the couple look forward to bringing the concept of Mosquito Joe to residents and businesses in and around Denton County.

The couple, both of whom have extensive experience in the healthcare industry – Lee as an executive of a national healthcare fortune20 company and Hollie with physician recruitment firms, are excited about the opportunity to provide a healthy product that can help others enjoy the outdoors in a healthy atmosphere.

Hollie, 37, and Lee, 47, have two children, a 6-year-old son, Jackson, and 9-year-old daughter, Ella. The family enjoys being outside and found the ongoing onslaught of mosquitoes and the vector-borne illnesses they can carry to be a hindrance.

While looking for a franchise business, the couple discovered Mosquito Joe, which provides mosquito control treatment to residential and commercial customers across the nation. Technicians are trained mosquito experts dedicating to getting rid of mosquitoes so people can enjoy being outside again.

The company not only provided a needed service but also the support and commitment to franchisees Hollie and Lee were hoping to find. The concept of providing a mosquito barrier using both a synthetic and purely organic version of products appealed to the couple.

“We liked that we could enjoy being outside within 30 minutes of treating the yard,” Hollie said, adding Mosquito Joe also treats for fleas and ticks.

Part of what they do is provide an education about mosquito control. For instance, only female mosquitoes bite and they lay eggs in layers, breeding in water as little as an inch deep.

“Our mission is to make backyards fun again,” Hollie says. “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the outdoors again.”
