Lt. Col. Oliver North keynote speaker at annual Lincoln-Reagan event

Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North will be the keynote speaker at the annual Lincoln-Reagan dinner, which also will feature Gov. Greg Abbott as well as Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.

Tickets to the annual event on March 21 at the D/FW Hyatt Regency Hotel are still available.

“We are excited to welcome Governor Abbott to our annual Lincoln-Reagan event,” said Denton County Republican Party Chairman Dianne Edmondson in a news release. “He truly has Texas sized accomplishments to his name both in his former role as Texas Attorney General and now leading the state as our Governor. The guests at our receptions will have a unique opportunity to visit with him and all our dinner attendees will get a chance to hear from him as the banquet begins. Sen. Jan. Nelson will emcee the event that also includes a live auction with such items as a silver anniversary Corvette, a dinner for 10 prepared by internationally-known Chef Morris Salerno. Other items include a special American Sniper package with memorabilia from the blockbuster film, The American Sniper, the Governor’s Proclamation of February 2, 2015, as Chris Kyle Day, and the flag that flew over the Texas Capitol on Feb. 2. A Republican Wave Quilt commemorating the Republican victories of 2014 and signed by new Republican officeholders across the state is also among the auction items.

The evening begins with a private Lincoln Cabinet reception followed by a VIP reception for guests to visit Lt. Col. North and elected officials. The dinner will feature the “Campaign Headquarters,” where recent and future candidates are spotlighted for people to meet. Also in attendance will be retiring State Republican Party Chairman Steve Munisteri.

Host of “War Stories” on the Fox News Channel and decorated U.S. Marine, Lt. Col. North is a native Texan, born in San Antonio. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and served 22 years as a Marine officer, earning combat service awards the Silver Star, the Bronze Star for valor and two Purple Hearts. Lt. Col. North was assigned to the National Security Council staff during the Ronald Reagan administration where he served as the U.S.counter-terrorism coordinator from 1983-1986.

Since 2001, Lt. Col. North has been embedded with more than 55 U.S. and allied combat units, including the Middle East and Afghanistan as the host of “War Stories.” He has authored 13 books includin his latest, “Heroes Proved,” which will be available for purchase and signing at the dinner.
