Students help others with canned food drive

Liberty Christian’s National Honor Society and Student Council Association held a school-wide canned food drive that benefitted the Denton and Argyle Food Banks.

Students from age 3 to 18 brought canned food for the drive, and more than 6,000 pounds of canned food was collected for these centers.

Through the sale of snow cones at football games, NHS and SCA also gave a $600 donation to the Denton Food Bank that will help that organization purchase six to seven times what could be given in canned food when purchasing it retail.

The Denton Food Bank reported that 18 percent of Denton County is “food insecure” and depends on the food bank for food. Liberty Christian was thanked for being regular contributors to this worthy cause.
