Residents can purchase a rain barrel from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday to celebrate America Recycles Day 2014.
Keep Flower Mound Beautiful is offering the rain barrels at a discounted price on the west end of the Community Activity Center parking lot at 1200 Gerault Road.
The Ivy 50-gallon rain barrel costs $69.95 each on Saturday while supplies last, according to a news release. The barrels are listed at $159.99 each on the company’s website.
The barrel is made from 100 percent recycled, opaque and black HDPE material with a locking lid and screened inlet. The barrel meets EPA safety standards and allows more capacity by linking additional barrels through its two overflow ports.
According to Keep Flower Mound Beautiful, three barrels, each weighing about 25 lbs., will fit in the back seat of a mid-size sedan. The barrel comes with an installation kit as well as instructions to start collecting and using rainwater for landscapes.
