Foodie Friday: End of summer news edition

Here is the End of Summer Foodie Friday News Edition! So, look for your favorite restaurant below to see what new and exciting things are happening!

Twelve Stones

On Sept. 24th, Twelve Stones is celebrating its 1-year anniversary. In its first (VERY SUCCESSFUL) year, Chef David Burdick has been able to expand his restaurant hours to include serving lunch and has stuck to his vision of featuring a fresh, seasonal menu throughout the year. Because of this, Chef Burdick and his team recently won Best Dinner, Best Fine Dining and Best Happy Hour in Denton County.

Chef Burdick is also excited to announce that the popular beet salad will be coming back later this year along with some great new menu items!

Z Grill & Tap

Football season is back, y’all! And Z Grill is the perfect place to watch those big games with your friends and family this season! Z Grill has added the SEC Channel, The Big 10 Channel and will also show all the pro football games all season long. So, head to Z Grill this Fall to watch the game and take advantage of some of their great football specials on College Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Pro Sundays from 11 a.m. until close.

Dolce Cafe & Bakery

Congratulations to our very first Foodie Friday spot who were named the “Best Bakery for Sweets” by D Magazine! They truly have incredible desserts and sweets including homemade pastries like a Triple Chocolate Cookie and their house-made Gelato (in flavors like Vaniglia, Amaretti or Coffee).

Bistecca

Bistecca also received some great news in the last couple weeks as they were voted the Best Steakhouse in Denton County! They’re also hosting a Master Chef’s World Cup Dinner on Sunday, Sept.14 at 6:30 p.m. where you can make reservations to enjoy a multi-course meal, paired with wines, prepared by chefs of the Epicurean World Master Chefs Society as they prepare to compete in Luxembourg in November for the 2014 World Cup. Reservations are $100 a person and you can contact Stacey at [email protected] to book your reservation today!

Savory Bistro

We loved our visit to Savory Bistro a few months ago – such great fresh menu options! The restaurant will be rolling out their new Fall menu in two weeks on Sept. 30 and will include items like a Sweet Potatoe Soup with Chili Sauce drizzle, Thai Duck Salad, Pear and Brie Panini, Seared Alaskan Cod and a Sugar and Spice Creme Brulee with a pear crumble and cinnamon ginger ice cream (drooling!)

However, tomorrow night, you can reserve a spot for their Chef Tasting Menu starting at 6 p.m. You own your seat for the evening and can join them whenever you’d like to try out some amazingly fresh dishes including a Sweet Corn Panna Cotta, Chilled Buttermilk Cucumber Soup, your choice of Steamed Halibut or Manhattan Steak and a Mango Pina Colada Cheesecake for dessert. Reservations are $75 per person. You can make your reservation by calling 940-584-0255. Hurry before spots sell out!

Yellow Rose Steak and Chop House

Yellow Rose is currently fundraising for the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research by selling their limited edition 4 Foxes Chardonnay. It’s a Russian River Valley (Sonoma) chardonnay created by Rick Tigner, the president of Jackson Family Wines. The winery’s profit on every bottle sold goes to the MJFF and so Yellow Rose has decided to donate $1/glass and $2/bottle to the Foundation as well. They’re also accepting any other donations patrons may wish to give!

In addition to that awesome fundraiser, they’ll FINALLY be having their ribbon cutting this Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. with the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce. A long time coming, but glad to see it finally happen for the new owners!

Yellow Rose is also working on a new wine and bar menu, as well as a new dinner menu they’ll be releasing in a month or so. They’re not disclosing any information about the new dinner menu, but have told us that they’re adding Snow Crab Claws served with a drawn butter to the appetizer menu as well as a new signature mac-n-cheese with some sort of seafood.

Lots of exciting things happening at Yellow Rose Steak and Chop House, so head over to Parker Square for a beautiful meal this weekend!

Swirl Bakery

Chris Norwood, owner of Swirl Bakery, has already been getting calls about holiday dinner orders and it’s only September! If you’ve never thought about having your holiday dinner or party catered by Swirl, I would suggest you give them a try! Order some of their strawberry thumbprints or a chocolate cream pie and your holiday guests are sure to leave full and happy!

They’ve got their Thanksgiving Menu and Order Form all ready, so give them a call as soon as possible to place your order as orders are limited. You can get everything from a Complete Turkey Dinner with Cornbread Dressing and Cranberry Sauce to Holiday add-ons like mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and macaroni & cheese. All orders must be placed by Monday, Nov. 24, and picked up the day before Thanksgiving.

This gets me in the holiday spirit (as much as is possible) and I love it!

Fat Cow BBQ

My mouth still waters when I think about the incredible food we had at Fat Cow BBQ (especially that homemade peach cobbler), so I can’t wait to get back out there to try some of their new menu items! They recently started offering loaded sliders and tacos with sour cream, cheese and coleslaw that have been a huge hit!

They’re also excited to announce that they’ve secured another location on the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Round Grove Road in Lewisville that they hope to have open by the end of this year!
