Area athletes named as AAU Academic All Americans

Six area athletes were named as recipients of the 2014 AAU Volleyball Academic All American Award.

Created in 2013, the award recognizes athletes of the AAU Volleyball program for their excellence in academics as well as athletics.

All recipients announced by the AAU Volleyball National Executive Committee on Aug. 7 attended high school during the 2013-2014 school year and participated in the 41st AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, Fla.

Athletes named from area high schools include: Elizabeth Donnelly of Denton Guyer High School; Katherine Cashman of Flower Mound High School; Kristen Bukowsky, Morgan LoBue and Morgan Myzk of Marcus High School; and Emily Acker of Denton High School.
