Flower Mound selects new fire chief

Flower Mound Town Manager Jimmy Stathatos announced Tuesday that Eric Greaser will be the town’s new fire chief after an extensive search and interview process.

Selected from 63 well-qualified applicants, Chief Greaser comes to Flower Mound from the City of Coppell where he has served since 1994, most recently in the role of Deputy Chief of Operations.

“I am thrilled to welcome Chief Greaser to Flower Mound, with his exceptional background and experience,” Stathatos said. “He is extremely personable, knowledgeable, and is widely respected throughout the region. I know he will be a great fit for our community and our fire department.”

The Town partnered with Strategic Government Resources to begin the search for the new Fire upon the retirement of long-time Chief Eric Metzger. Although a specific start date has not been determined, Chief Greaser will begin his duties in August and Stathatos will introduce him to the community during the July 21 Town Council meeting.

“I am proud and humbled by the opportunity to lead such a fine organization and look forward to building upon the department’s long tradition of excellent service to the citizens of Flower Mound,” said Chief Greaser. “I am committed to deliver emergency services that are second to none.”

While working for the Coppell Fire Department, Chief Greaser played a significant role in the City of Coppell’s Public Protection Classification ISO 1 rating along with the Texas Fire Chief’s “Best Practices” designation this year. He also helped manage the establishment of Coppell’s award-winning Critical Care Paramedic program and created the Coppell Citizen’s Fire Academy program. Chief Greaser has received numerous accolades, including being named “Firefighter of the Year.”
