Missing cyclist found dead in Flower Mound park

After a two day search, Flower Mound police found the body of a missing bicyclist in a muddy ravine northeast of Twin Coves Marina on Monday afternoon.

Wesley Andrew Hixson, 30, of Roanoke was reported missing by a friend on Saturday afternoon during a bike ride on the trails.

Flower Mound Police Capt. Richard Brooks said Hixson was last seen around 10 a.m. Saturday after becoming separated from his riding group.

According to Hixson’s riding group, he had a crash on his bike prior to the separation and may have suffered a head injury.

A total of 1,500 acres of parkland was searched by ground, air and watercraft units from Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

Hixson’s body was transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Officer to determine the cause of death.

Hixson is the son of Arlington Fire Department Lieutenant Tom Hixson, a 29-year veteran of the Arlington FD.
