Parts of central Denton County were battered by severe thunderstorms on Thursday, while southern Denton County was spared from the worst.
Several rounds of severe thunderstorms with golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts up to 80 mph developed late Thursday afternoon and moved over central Denton County, causing extensive property damage in the city of Denton.
The Flower Mound/Argyle/Lantana areas got by with brief heavy rains and a light show. Rainfall estimated totals from composite weather radar returns were a half to one inch.
