Tornado watch issued for Denton County

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Denton County until 9 p.m.

Scattered thunderstorms, some of which will be severe, will move east and northeast at 20 to 30 mph across Denton County this afternoon, forecasters said.

Hail up to the size of tennis balls and wind gusts up to 70 mph can be expected with some of the severe storms through late afternoon. The threat of an isolated tornado also exists.
