Police bust Lantana car burglars

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office has made two arrests after a rash of vehicle burglaries in Lantana last month.

Michiel Martin and Amanda Ahlschier, both 30 years-old from Haltom City, were charged with felony theft and felony criminal mischief stemming from 17 vehicle burglaries that occurred in Lantana on February 10.

The same day the incidents occurred, Denton County investigators determined that a credit card stolen from one of the vehicles had been used at a Wal-Mart in North Richland Hills and responded to the store. They were able to obtain a description of the suspects from video surveillance, and the description was distributed to area police.

On February 12, the Watauga Police Department in northern Tarrant County arrested the pair on charges in Watauga. During their arrest, they were found in possession of items that linked them to the vehicle burglaries in Lantana.

Both suspects are currently being held in Tarrant County Jail pending additional charges in multiple jurisdictions in northern Tarrant County.
