Letter: A heartfelt thanks

My girls and I, Makiah Wilmes, a sophomore at Marcus High School, and my daughter, Emily, an 8th grader at Lamar Middle School, lost our Flower Mound home to a fire on January 29, 2014.

We have been overwhelmed by the response of the community and their generosity. First, I’d like to thank the first responders, the firemen and women of Flower Mound, Lewisville, Highland Village and Grapevine; as well as the Flower Mound Fire Chief, inspectors, paramedics and Animal Control. It was incredible to see the teams working together to put out the fire. They not only contained the fire, but rescued both of our dogs, Murphy and Roxy.

I’d also like to thank the support, and generosity of Marcus High School Counselor, Natalie Melton, and Lamar Middle School Counselor, Jill Adams. They were both incredible at spreading the word, and collecting donations. The staff and students at several local elementary schools, the staff at Flower Mound High School, and complete strangers donated countless clothing donations, gift cards and monetary donations.

Finally, thanks to the owners of the The InLine Group, Terry and Kelli Mulloy, and all my colleagues who generously gave to our family. I’m grateful to work for such an awesome company and with great people!

We are so grateful to live in a community that banded together and helped us.

God Bless,

Angela Middleton
