This week’s edition of Foodie Friday is very special to me because I get to share the awesome experience I had at Twelve Stones on my birthday/wedding anniversary! This past Wednesday evening, my beautiful wife and I were able to enjoy a delicious meal over at Twelve Stones in Flower Mound and they really did help us to make it a special evening.
It was so nice to have a great spot in Flower Mound where we knew we could have a first-class and quiet dining experience to celebrate the occasion. In the past we’ve had to venture to Dallas or Fort Worth to find a place to accommodate our celebration, but not this year!
So, let me tell you about our fabulous meal. First of all, the maitre d’ made sure to seat us at one of the best tables in the restaurant, where we could enjoy a slow-paced and quiet meal.
We started out with a wonderful selection of cheeses and garnishes that included two cheeses made right here at a dairy in Flower Mound. Did you know that Flower Mound has a dairy?? Well, we do. The Latte Da Dairy provides all the goat milk for the cheeses in Chef David Burdick’s homemade herbed goat cheese and a few others. It was incredible.
We then moved on to the salad course of our meal. I had my favorite salad – the Braised Beet salad which features Texas Baby beets, herbed goat cheese (local!), candied pistachios, baby arugula and is dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. It was so awesome I kind of wanted to order two more.
That evening, Chef David’s special was a 5 oz filet with roasted asparagus and a bed of potatoes topped with crab and a sauce that must be top-secret it was that good.
And then came my favorite part of the meal – dessert. My wife and I both chose the creme brulee, and because it was our anniversary and my birthday, they wrote “Happy Anniversary” on Stacy’s plate and “Happy Birthday” on mine. They also sent over a nice hand-written card with well-wishes for our special day.
Those of you who know me also know that I’ve been on an herbal-tea kick lately, so after our meal, I decided to enjoy a nice cup of one of Twelve Stones’ delicious tea options. They have a beautiful selection to choose from, but Wednesday I decided to go with the Sunset Orange Rooibos tea, which I think might be my new code word for “I’m very happy.”
The atmosphere could not have been more perfect for us that night. We were able to enjoy a wonderful dinner without feeling rushed or cramped and the staff worked so hard to make sure we had a pleasurable experience.
So, if you have a special occasion to celebrate or are just looking for a nice evening out in Flower Mound, I highly recommend you head over to Twelve Stones located in The Pines of Flower Mound off of FM 3040. I assure you that you will have a great experience – my wife and I have every time we’ve gone.
Thank you so much to all of you who follow me on my eating adventures through Flower Mound and Highland Village. Be sure to keep checking back every Friday as I share more places for you to get your “Foodie” on.
