The Marcus boys basketball team opened the playoffs with a bang on Tuesday evening, defeating Irving by a score of 75-44 in the bi-district round.
Xavier Adams had a phenomenal effort with 28 points in the game, while Bryce Verplank added 14 points, Michael Mayhew had 12 points and Jack Holden scored 11 points.
Chad Elliott, Cameron Osmond, Mark Vaughan, Gavin Baird and Armin Karahodza combined for 10 points against Irving.
Marcus will play the winner of the Cedar Hill/Harker Heights game on Thursday or Friday at a time and location to be determined.
Guyer 70, Saginaw 37
The Guyer boys basketball team coasted to victory on Tuesday night in their bi-district game against Saginaw, defeating the Rough Riders 70-37 to advance to the area round.
Sean Choate led the team in scoring with 13 points, while Gordon Hill added 12 points in the game.
Bryson Erby, Shelton Childress, Miles Crawford, Joshua Jordan, Xavier Brown, Kason Kilgore and Mitchell Willard all combined for 45 points for the Wildcats.
Guyer will play the winner of the Everman/Aledo game on Thursday or Friday at a time and location to be determined.
L.D. Bell 52, Marcus 41
The season came to an end for the Marcus girls basketball team on Tuesday evening, losing to L.D. Bell by a score of 52-41 in the regional quarterfinals.
Alexus Jones led the team in scoring with 10 points, while Vanessa Jones added nine and Morgan Easley and Taylor Roof scored eight points each in the game.
Taylor Hayes, Ashley James and Jasmine Richard combined for six points.
The Lady Marauders finished the season with a 29-3 overall record.
Argyle 54, Decatur 30
The Argyle girls basketball team advanced to the regional tournament on Tuesday night after a 54-30 drubbing of Decatur in the regional quarterfinals.
The Lady Eagles controlled the game from the outset, leading 16-3 at the end of the first quarter, and 36-16 after the third quarter.
Vivian Gray led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Delaney Sain added 12 and Jesse Sheridan scored 10 points in the game.
Madison Ralston, Olvia Gray, Bailey Eschle, Kaylie King and Allison White all combined for 13 points against Decatur.
Argyle will play Canton at 8 p.m. on Friday at Texas A&M Commerce.
Argyle 54, Sanger 50
The Argyle boys basketball team won a close one on Tuesday night, defeating Sanger by a score of 54-50 in the bi-district round.
Argyle overcame a halftime deficit to get the come-from-behind victory and advance to the area round.
The Eagles will play on Thursday or Friday night against the winner of the Melissa/Wilmer Hutchins game at a time and location to be determined.
