Argyle Mayor’s Message

Our month started with a beautiful brunch, prepared by Councilwoman Delashaw, and served to all of the Argyle Town employees to show our appreciation to our Town staff.

The ESD (Emergency Service District) had a workshop which was attended by myself, the Board of the ESD, the Mayors of Copper Canyon and Northlake, Michelle French and Judge Mary Horn. Bob Swanbeck facilitated the workshop where goals and concerns for the future were presented.

There was an open house at our new fire department displaying to the public the fabulous new facilities. A large crowd was on hand taking the opportunity to take the tour and meet our Argyle fire personnel.

The Mayor of Copper Canyon hosted a very informative crime prevention luncheon. There were many towns gathered to discuss the current trends in crime we are seeing in North Texas. Argyle is very fortunate to have Chief Tackett and his team.

Northlake, Bartonville and Argyle had a workshop to discuss the growth of our area and the importance to plan for the population boom that we are seeing. Texas is experiencing incredible growth with North Texas leading the way. I am looking forward to continue working with our two neighboring towns.

The Jan. 28 council meeting boasted a full house with residents speaking either for or against the proposal for a grocery store. The Council voted 4 to 1 to approve a Brookshires grocery store.

I appreciate everyone that spent the evening to share their concerns. As a result of some of the feedback from discussions at the meeting, I will be working with the Town staff and Council to find more ways to better communicate upcoming issues with our citizens and try to insure that everyone stays informed.

Presently, I depend on the newspaper to give you information, an Argyle town website that we continue to improve, and an Argyle town Facebook page on which we post upcoming events.

We started a quarterly Argyle Town News newsletter, mailed to all citizens, detailing all upcoming town council meetings and topics of discussion. There is also a group of citizens that meet to gather information and discuss the possibilities of upcoming plans for Argyle. This group is growing and everyone is welcome to join.

I will continue to find ways to reach our Citizens. I welcome anyone to call and meet me or anyone of your Town Council.

Thank you to all that have sent your messages of encouragement. I welcome any ideas that you might have to be a better communicator. Please call the Town at 940-464-7273 to get in touch with any of us.
