Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound named best place to work in healthcare

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound was recently being named number one in the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2013, by Modern Healthcare and Best Companies Group.

The hospital also was named first among midsized healthcare companies from all applicants with work forces between 100 to 999 employees.

This annual program, now in its sixth year, is a highly sought-after designation which recognizes top employers in the healthcare industry throughout the United States. Application for the list is open to all eligible healthcare providers, suppliers and payers with at least 25 employees. In addition to the nationally ranked list, organizations are recognized in the categories of small, midsize and large, based on number of employees.

The program collects information from applicant organizations. Through an in-depth survey, both employers and employees are asked to answer approximately 72 questions in eight core areas: Leadership and planning; Culture and communications; Role satisfaction; Working environment; Relationship with supervisor; Training and development; Pay and benefits; Overall satisfaction.

According to Spencer Turner, president of Texas Health Flower Mound, winning the top spot is a result of improved communication, competitive compensation, and employee recognition programs.

“Since opening April 2010, we have made tremendous improvement in our retention rate and employee satisfaction scores, which I attribute to a combination of letting our employees know we truly care about them every day, offering valuable benefits and competitive compensation,” he states, noting its employee-friendly initiatives include an annual awards gala and gain-sharing program to reward employees for reaching measurable targets.

This is the second year Texas Health Flower Mound applied for the list, coming in at #17 in 2012. This year’s awards ceremony was held October 24 in Atlanta, which Turner attended.

“Hospital leaders are fully aware our physicians, nurses and staff members are the reason patients come here. Our job is to make sure employees have the resources and mindset to provide the absolute best medical care. To be named the best healthcare facility to work in the entire country is an incredible honor and speaks volumes about the culture at Texas Health Flower Mound,” Turner says.

Texas Health Flower Mound was also named “Best Hospital in Flower Mound 2013” by readers of Living Magazine, “Best Hospital in Denton County 2013” by readers of Go! Pages Magazine, and “Business of the Year 2012” by the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce.
