The Guyer football team advanced to the state semifinal round of the playoffs on Monday evening, with a 53-28 victory over Birdville at UNT’s Apogee Stadium in Denton.
Jerrod Heard rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns, while DJ Breedlove rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
Anthony Taylor also rushed for two touchdowns in the game and Heard connected with Adam Scott on a 20-yard touchdown pass.
The Guyer defense came up with two turnovers in the game.
The Wildcats (11-2) will square off with Highland Park (13-1) in the Class 4A Division I state semifinals at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Stadium in Allen.
