Go green at environmental fair and community cleanup

Residents of Flower Mound and the surrounding area are invited to go green this Saturday.

The fifth annual Keep Flower Mound Beautiful (KFMB) Fall Trash Bash and Environmental/Health Fair is Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Flower Mound Home Depot, 852 International Pkwy (at the intersection of FM 2499 and Lakeside Pkwy).

“There will be booths offering a wide variety of information,” said KFMB Board Chairwoman Marilyn Lawson. “People can learn about water conservation, composting and CoServ will have ways to save electricity and energy.”

In addition, CINTAS Document Management will provide paper shredding to residents of Flower Mound and CCA will accept donations for their resale stores and food pantry to help build reserves prior to Thanksgiving.

“There will also be information on healthy living and the native plant society will be available to answer questions,” said Lawson. “We also expect members of the local chicken co-op to have some of their chickens there, as well as one of the local honey farmers.”

The Trash Bash involves volunteers going through town parks, trails and roadways to pick up trash from 8:30 a.m. until noon. When volunteers turn in their collections, they will have lunch, giveaways and door prizes.

There will be a variety of kids’ activities including an inflatable obstacle course and a Home Depot Kids Workshop.

For more information or to volunteer for the Trash Bash, visit KFMB.org, or call 469-828-9074.
