Flower Mound council to consider approval of River Walk PID hearing

The Flower Mound Town Council has scheduled a special meeting this Monday night to consider a resolution for a public hearing to be held on August 19 in regards to the creation of the proposed River Walk Public Improvement District (PID).

The Riverwalk PID #1 would fund improvements at the 108-acre, mixed-use River Walk at Central Park development, such as an amphitheater, chapel, water features and monuments.

On July 12, the Baptist Foundation of Texas, the current owners of the property submitted and filed with the Town Secretary a petition requesting the establishment of a PID for the property, which is part of the River Walk at Central Park.

A request for the creation of the PID  was made at the Town Council’s regular meeting on July 15.

In addition to seeking the community’s input, a public hearing must be held prior to the creation of the River Walk PID in accordance to state law.

During the August 19 regular Town Council meeting, the Council will consider approving the creation of the River Walk PID, contingent upon voter approval.

If the resolution is approved by the Town Council at that time, on or before Monday, August 26, 2013, an election for or against the creation of the PID will be called for November 5, 2013, in accordance with the Town Charter.

The special meeting on Monday will start at 6 p.m. and will be held at Flower Mound Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Road.
