Highland Village officers earn awards

The Highland Village City Council recognized three HVPD officers Tuesday for their beyond the call of duty accomplishments.

Officer Nicole Green was honored with the Life Saving Award for her actions in resuscitating a resident during a medical call.

On December 10, Green responded to a medical emergency at a home in Highland Village. After finding no detectable pulse on the victim, Green administered an automated external defibrillator and followed with CPR until paramedics arrived. The patient was successfully resuscitated and survived.

“It takes bravery, dedication and intelligence to save the life of another person. We appreciate the work of Officer Green,” said Mayor Pat Davis.

Also at the meeting, HVPD officers David Harney and David Pittinger were awarded Community Service Awards.

Harney and Pittinger organized the 5th Annual Fallen Heroes Bike Race in September 2012 and raised $15,570 for the Fallen Officer Fund. The fund provides $1000 to families of fallen officers within 24 hours of the officer’s death. The annual event is scheduled for this September.
