A Denton man is behind bars after allegedly holding up an Argyle convenience store Monday morning.

Argyle police said that a man armed with a 9mm assault rifle, wearing a mask and gloves, robbed Johnny Joe’s at 401 S. Hwy 377 just after 10:00 a.m. The suspect left the scene in a white Infinity sedan.

A few minutes later, Northlake and Justin police officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle at FM 1171 and I-35W.

Argyle Police arrived and arrested the driver, Gage M. Curtis, 20, of Denton, after recovering the gun used in the robbery, along the mask and gloves, and cash taken from the store.

Upon further investigation, police learned the car Curtis was driving had been reported stolen out of Denton.

Curtis was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Denton County jail on a $50,000 bond.
