Fence co-op looking to help more residents

Do you have a tired old wooden privacy fence that looks like it could topple every time the wind picks up?  “Wood” you be interested in replacing it at a really good price?

Roy Oteo, President of Willow Ridge Estates Homeowners Association in southeast Flower Mound, started to work last fall on putting together an initiative to spruce up aging neighborhoods by getting contractors to bid on quality privacy wood fences at the best price.

Oteo met twice with homeowners to get their feedback during the process.  Ten contractors went through the bidding process.

His project is finally coming to fruition with approximately 37 homeowners participating and over 5,000 feet of new wood fence to be installed.

Now he’s ready for round two.

“It is a shame because as I drive around my neighborhood as well as all the surrounding neighborhoods, you can still see a need, but many may not have heard about the program,” said Oteo.

Oteo said that if he had the opportunity, he would be going door-to-door and having one-on-one discussions with homeowners to get them signed-up for a new fence.

He said the advantages of the co-op include significant savings–up to 30 percent over regular prices, close coordination and communication with Flower Mound officials, high quality engineered fence specs, and a relationship with a quality company that can offer other services to homeowners in need of repairs.

“Things can move a lot quicker this time around since the winning contractor still offers a good value, even with an upcoming price increase that will affect all contractors,” said Oteo.

Homeowners will have the opportunity to meet the contractor in an open forum.  The timeline for installations will start in April and run through the end of the year.

Call Oteo at 972-355-1718 to get on the next list of homeowners who are looking to install all or part of their privacy fence.
