Rep. Parker announces Page for a Day program

State Representative Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound) announced that his office is taking applications to participate in the Page For a Day program.

A long standing tradition at the State Capitol, the program allows children between the ages of 8 and 18 to spend a day at the Capitol assisting the Members of the Texas House of Representatives while they work on the chamber floor.

Participants have the unique opportunity to experience the legislative process up close, have their picture taken with Representative Parker, and are presented with a state flag recently flown over the Capitol.

Previous program participants sponsored by Rep. Parker also had the opportunity to meet various dignitaries happening to be visiting the State Capitol, such as Texas Rangers owner Nolan Ryan and Team Manager Ron Washington.

“It is a wonderful program,” Parker stated.  “One of the highest honors of this office is to host the youth of our communities and to provide them with a once in a lifetime experience.  I look forward to having many children participate this session.”

To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of House District 63 and between the ages of 8 and 18.

Interested applicants are asked to contact Rep. Parker’s District Director, Mrs. Patricia Robinson, at [email protected] with a 300 word essay summarizing why they would like to be a page for the day.  Due to the limited number of spaces available, qualified applicants will be chosen on a first come, first served basis.

Initially elected on November 7th of 2006, Representative Parker represents both rural and urban parts of Denton County which encompasses the cities of Flower Mound, Argyle, Lantana, Dish, Ponder, Justin, Northlake, Copper Canyon, Double Oak, Bartonville, Trophy Club, Roanoke and portions of Lewisville, Fort Worth, Highland Village, Westlake and Southlake.

Serving in his 4th term in the Texas Legislature, Representative Parker is focusing his efforts on economic development, job creation, strengthening border security and immigration policy, promoting fiscally responsible government spending, providing a strong public education system and protecting family values.
