TxDOT will begin to move traffic to the newly constructed lanes of FM 407 between Briarhill Boulevard and Chinn Chapel Road by the end of this week, according to Highland Village officials.
Westbound traffic will be switched to the new pavement first. Eastbound traffic will remain on the old road while TxDOT completes pavement marking, temporary barricades and driveway and intersection cuts.
TxDOT plans to have both directions of traffic switched to over to the new pavement by Nov. 15, weather permitting. Crews will then rebuild the eastbound lanes.
The widening project had been held up due to underground utility lines, but workers are now on site nearly every day.
Estimated completion of the entire 1.164 mile project is early spring 2013.
