Lantana residents victims of daytime burglary

Police are investigating a residential burglary in Lantana that occurred in broad daylight on Thursday afternoon.

Between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., someone forced open the front door of a house in the 8300 block of Navisota Dr. in Navarro and stole jewelry valued at $7500 while the homeowner was out running errands.

The homeowner told police that she noticed a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of Navisota Dr. and Iris St. while pulling out of her driveway to leave. The car was described as a black 90’s Honda Civic with a white racing stripe, loud exhaust, and writing on the back window with shoe polish.

Shortly after returning home, her son discovered the front door was damaged.

While waiting at a neighbor’s house for the sheriff’s deputy to arrive, the homeowner saw the same Honda Civic and a black 80’s or 90’s model Mustang speeding away from the neighborhood.

Anyone with information about these or other offenses is asked to contact the Denton County Sheriff’s Department at 972-434-5500.
