Local student sets her sights on pageant crown

Holly Morris of Flower Mound was recently selected to participate in the 2012 Miss Jr. Teen Dallas pageant competition on Nov. 4.

Morris, 13, made the cut after submitting an application and taking part in an interview session that was conducted by this year’s Dallas Pageant Coordinator.

The Downing Middle School 8th grader will be competing for her share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts.

“My hope is to gain extra exposure into the modeling field as well as experience in a competition like this,” said Morris.

Morris will compete in the Miss Jr. Teen division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies between 7 and 19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual and formal wear.

Most important, Holly will display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year’s Dallas judging panel. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition, according to pageant officials.

If Morris wins the title of Miss Jr. Teen Dallas, she would represent North Texas at the National Competition that will take place next year in Orlando, Florida.

“If I advance and move on to the Miss Teen USA competition in Florida it would open doors for me to gain a scholarship,” said Morris.

Any business, organization or private individual who would like to sponsor Morris can call 877-403-6678.
