Brothers busted for car burglaries in Highland Village

Highland Village police made two arrests over the weekend after a string of vehicle burglaries.

Police said that officers responded to a suspicious person report in the 200 block of Village Tree Drive on Sunday morning at approximately 1:10 a.m.

Officers searched the area and located a suspect who was hiding inside a resident’s vehicle.

An investigation revealed that the suspect, Austin Morris, 21, of Highland Village, had burglarized several vehicles in the area that morning. Morris was arrested and charged with five counts of Burglary of a Vehicle.

Based on the investigation, detectives also obtained an arrest warrant for Morris’ older brother, Matthew Morris, 23, of Highland Village, who had left the scene undetected. The elder Morris was arrested later that same day.

Both suspects were booked into the Highland Village City Jail and transferred to the Denton County Jail.

It is unknown at this time if the men are connected to other car burglaries in Copper Canyon., Double Oak and Lantana.
