There will be a new sheriff in Denton County this November. William Travis defeated two-term incumbent Benny Parkey in Tuesday’s Republican Primary Election.
Travis, 49, lives near Copper Canyon and owns two businesses; Diamond T Arena and X-Ray Business Solutions. He was previously employed with the Dallas Police Department for two years and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration for six years.
Since no Democrats filed to run for sheriff, Travis will run unopposed in November and take office in January.
The race for Denton County Tax Assessor/Collector came down to a little over 500 votes, with longtime tax office employee Michelle French edging out Marc Moffitt.
