Will use bonds responsibly if elected

My opponent, Joey Hasty, refutes the information I requested and received from the Argyle Town staff (*see below).  He claims he did not vote for some of the Certificate of Obligation Bonds (CO) that put Argyle’s population of 3,283 people in debt for almost $10,000,000 (ten million dollars).  He told me he voted for the last $3,650,000 Certificate of Obligation Bond for street repair because “WE REALLY NEEDED IT.”

Mr. Hasty, the problem is that YOU DECIDED what the Argyle taxpayers needed and you, along with Dona Schroetke, Bonny Haynes, and Jackie Thomas decided how Argyle residents should spend their tax dollars without letting them vote on any of these bonds.  These were your decisions, NOT THE TAXPAYERS. 

The council members could have made these debts General Obligation Bonds (GO) and let the taxpayers vote on them by attaching the bonds, without charge, to one of the two yearly elections.  Then the Argyle taxpayers could vote for what they needed or didn’t need.

As Argyle councilman for Place 1, I will only vote for Certificate of Obligation Bonds (CO) to refinance the debt at a lower interest rate or for small, non-controversial, expenditures.
