OrthoTexas Outstanding Student – Stacey Brewer

Stacey Brewer is a humanitarian and a scholar.

The Flower Mound High School senior is a member of the student council and National Honor Society at FMHS and spends her free time helping the needy.

Ranked in the top 11 percent of her graduating class this year and headed to Texas A&M in the fall where she plans to pursue a degree in International Studies, Brewer said being organized is very important to the success she has had as a student and community service volunteer.

“I always try to make my priorities, and school is at the top of that list,” Brewer said. “I also put community service at the top of the list. That’s why I am involved in those types of activities.”

One of the community service organizations of which Brewer is a part is called World Changes, in which young people spend their summers repairing the homes of people that cannot afford to make the repairs themselves.

Brewer said this particular charity is very near and dear to her heart.

“I really love the community involvement,” Brewer said. “It is such a rewarding experience, and I go back every year. I enjoy helping other people, and it has been great seeing how one person can change another’s life.”

Brewer has been accepted to Texas A&M’s Honor College and said she chose to attend school in College Station for a couple of reasons.

“Number one, my family are all Aggies,” Brewer said. “I also love the community and the people around there. When I was accepted to the honors program in the field I was pursuing, that really suited me well. I really just fell in love with the university.”

Brewer said attending FMHS has been very special for her and said it is a time she will look back upon with great fondness.

“Going to Flower Mound has really taught me a lot about myself,” Brewer said. “Throughout my four years, I really learned my capabilities, who I am, my interests, and what I want to become.

“With the organizations and the teachers I had and all of the great friends I made, it was an experience I will never forget.”

Brewer is ranked 82 in her class of 777 students.
