Liberty DanzTeam shines at state competition

The Liberty Christian School DanzTeam earned four team awards at Halftime Entertainment’s Texas State Dance Team Championship on March 3 at Northwest High School in Justin.

The girls’ awards included the Team Sweepstakes, scoring 90 or above from all three judges; Showmanship Judges Award, a first for the girls; first place in Hip Hop; and first place in Team Pom.

The officers received two officer awards including Officer Sweepstakes and first place in Officer Prop.

“I have seen our girls perform these dance routines since December,” said Julie Price, DanzTeam director, “and this competition was the best the girls have ever performed.

“They danced all of their routines to the best of their ability – I am so proud of them.”

Price said that each year Liberty’s DanzTeam competes with various dance companies so that the girls will be well rounded and experience all the state of Texas has to offer in dance competitions.

“It’s very educational for the LCS Dancers to see other teams perform and see their level of abilities,” Price said. “It’s very inspiring to see very talented dancers and teams so that our team will set similar goals.”

Price has seen competitions develop her girls’ abilities through the performances that are onstage with judges and a large audience.

The girls will compete next at the Marching Auxiliaries Nationals on March 23–24 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
