Be a champion for children

The Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County will host the 3rd Annual Champions for Children Gala this Saturday, Feb. 18, at Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound.

The event begins at 7 p.m. with guests receiving autographs from celebrity athletes including: Jason Garrett, Cowboys Head Coach; Rod Pampling, PGA Golfer; Jose Guzman, former Texas Rangers; Chad Hennings, former Cowboys defensive lineman; Tony Casillas, former Cowboys defensive lineman; Dan McCarney, UNT Head Football Coach; and many more.  Over 15 area chefs and restaurants will serve signature hors d’oeuvres.  Other festivities include wine tastings, live and silent auction, and live music from Good Question Band.

Gala Honorary Host Committee members include: C.J. Wilson’s Children’s Charities; David and Andrea Murphy; Congressmen Michael C. Burgess M.D. and Kenny Marchant; State Senators Jane Nelson and Chris Harris; and State Representatives Burt Solomons, Tan Parker and Myra Crownover.

The evening’s theme, “Phantom of the Gala” is going to be a show-stopper with volunteers dressed in full costume and the University of North Texas College of Music set to perform songs from Phantom of the Opera.  Attire will be cocktail, however Phantom attire (1800’s) and masks are optional.

CACDC is a non-profit organization located in Lewisville and provides justice and healing for severely abused children and non-offending family members by coordinating a team approach to the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse cases.  The CACDC is a child friendly place where abused children come to receive services such as forensic interviews, crisis intervention, sexual assault medical exams, counseling, and court preparation.
