The Barnes & Noble location in The Shops at Highland Village is holding a Holiday Book Drive for the local non-profit organization, Communities In Schools of North Texas.

Gently used books will be collected at the store through Jan. 1, 2011, with a goal of over 2,000 books for the organization.

“Working with our local community, Barnes & Noble Highland Village is hoping to donate at least one new book for every child served by Communities In Schools of North Texas that they will be able to take home and keep,” said Kathleen Schaefer, Assistant Manager of the Highland Village Barnes & Noble location.  “Over 2,000 books is a lofty goal, but with the participation of our community it is absolutely achievable!”

The mission of Communities In Schools of North Texas is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.  The organization will serve over 2,000 at-risk youth in the Lewisville and Denton Independent School Districts throughout the 2010-11 academic year.

For information on how you can participate in the Holiday Book Drive, contact the Highland Village Barnes & Noble location at 972-966-0099 or visit the store at 4100 Deer Creek in Highland Village.
