Victoriously defending their 2008 State Marching Band Champion title, the Argyle High School Eagle Band swept the state competition in San Antonio Monday night with a unanimous decision from all five judges for a perfect score of straight 1’s, besting second place North Lamar of Paris by a wide margin of 15 points.
Princeton took third place, Port Isabel took fourth and Canton took fifth place.
The results were announced after a long, hot day of preliminary and final rounds at 10:00 p.m. at the Alamodome.
Argyle had a crowd of at least 300 in attendance traveling to support the band who pulled a flawless performance of Mark Higgonbotham Show “Inside Out”, winning the top prize in high school marching for the second consecutive time and fourth time overall.
Argyle is hosting a victory celebration for the returning champs at Argyle High School at 3:00 pm today.
