Flower Mound Community Orchestras begins season

Flower Mound’s community orchestra, the Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra, presents its first offering of the season at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church (6101 Morriss Road in Flower Mound) this Saturday, Oct. 23, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Featured are William Walton’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, with Katrin Meidell, viola soloist and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Paul Dukas, directed by Dr. Paul Bonneau and presented free of charge to the community.

As part of its mission to bring music enjoyment and education to all ages and elements of the community, the FMCO includes two educational orchestras.

The Preparatory Orchestra (since 1997) and the Progressive Orchestra (since 2001) are unique in that their memberships include children, youth and adult amateur musicians. This environment allows multi-generational families to participate together in performing orchestras. The two Educational Orchestras will present their first concert of the season, also free of charge; at Trietsch on Oct. 19th at 7:30 p.m. Cecilia Hamilton and Rachael Jarvis are associate conductors for the Orchestras.

The three community orchestras are composed of local-area musicians of all ages who volunteer their time and talents for the benefit of cultural awareness in the community and for their own enjoyment of playing in an ensemble.

To audition for a place in any of the orchestras, contact Music Director, Paul Bonneau.
