Board chooses superintendent search firm

The Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees Saturday unanimously selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to serve as the Lewisville Independent School District’s superintendent search firm.

“This firm has a strong reputation of recruiting effective superintendents in some of the most reputable school districts across the country,” said Carol Kyer, LISD Board of Trustees president.

“Based upon the board’s goals of transparency, community input and a quality candidate selection process, the board believes that Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates is the best match for LISD. This firm is well known for its customer service and customized search process that reflects the board’s desired goals.”

Based in Illinois, HYA has conducted more than 800 executive searches throughout the country since its incorporation in 1988.

In total, the board received seven search firm proposals.

The next step for the board will be working with the firm to customize their search process, Kyer said.

Also during the special meeting, the board authorized Superintendent Dr. Jerry Roy to appoint Joshua Draper as assistant principal for Old Settler’s Elementary School in Flower Mound. Prior to his appointment, Draper served as an interventionist in the Special Education Department.

The board approved a series of budget amendments to allocate funds for the superintendent search as well as removing one salary out of the maintenance department to the food service fund. Additionally, a budget amendment was made due to an error regarding a district program, said Kyer.

Due to the flooding rainstorm, the Marcus High School gym suffered water damage. The board authorized Dr. Roy to contract for repairs to the gym. An investigation is underway by the maintenance department to determine the cause of how the water seeped under the floor of the gym during last week’s heavy rain.
