House District 26 candidate forum set

The League of Women Voters of Denton will hold a forum for candidates vying for election to the 26th U.S. House of Representatives Texas District.

Michael Burgess (Republican), Neil Durrance (Democrat), and Mark Boler (Libertarian) have agreed to appear at the event on Thursday, October 28, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Denton City Council Chambers.

“It has been difficult to find a time when all three candidates could be present for the forum,” said Sondra Ferstl, President of LWV-Denton.

“Although the debate will occur after early voting has begun, we hope that those voters who plan to wait until November 2 to cast their ballot will benefit from attending the forum.  We are also making plans to tape the event for replay on the public access channel in Denton.”

The forum will be open to the public and will be conducted according to LWV policy on candidate forums and debates, said Ferstl.

“Congressman Burgess is eager to highlight the sharp contrasts between his record of service and his opponent’s support for Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s big government tax-and-spend agenda,” said Lauren Bean, Congressman Burgess’ spokeswoman.

Early voting begins Oct. 18 and continues through Oct. 29. Election Day is Nov. 2.
