Flower Mound Presbyterian Hospital now has a Level II Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in partnership with Newborn Intensive Care Specialist, providing neonatal intensive care to premature, critically ill and well babies born at the new facility 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The NICU, which became operational on Aug. 1, provides care for babies that are born up to eight weeks premature as well as tending to moderately ill newborns that are expected to recover quickly.
Infants recovering from more serious conditions can also be transferred from a stay in a Level III facility to a Level II for the remainder of their treatment.
“We are pleased to be able to provide care for newborns in Flower Mound. The ability to stay in their home community during a potentially stressful time can mean less worry for parents in an already difficult situation,” said Dr. Tung Giep, Newborn Intensive Care Specialist founder and neonatologist.
