Board approves pay raises; Makes appointments

During the July 29th Lewisville Board of Trustees Special Meeting, the Board approved raises for all employees. This action will result in an average of 1.18 percent raise for all employees.

Also during the meeting, the Board appointed Deputy Superintendent Dennis Winborn as the Interim Superintendent of Schools through Aug. 31.

Dr. Roy will return Sept. 1 for six months while the Board of Trustees holds a Superintendent Search. The Board anticipates a new Superintendent of Schools will report for duty during Spring 2011.

The Board named Scot Finch as the new Hebron High School Principal. Finch was previously the principal at Durham Middle School.

As predicted, LISD received the “Recognized” rating for the second consecutive year by the Texas Education Agency last Friday. This is also a record-year for LISD with 38 schools rated “Exemplary” and 20 rated “Recognized.”

The most significant gain is the eight-point increase on the science portion of the test by students who are classified as economically disadvantaged, school officials said.

As a way to celebrate the schools accomplishments, the district is hosting its second annual “Exemplary” and “Recognized” rating ceremony at one high school football game in each feeder pattern where every school that earned an “Exemplary” or “Recognized” rating will be honored with a flag.

The flag ceremony will be held at Flower Mound High School on September 3 at Neal Wilson/Jaguar Stadium and Marcus High School on October 15 at Marauder Stadium.
